Building the Greenacres Dollhouse II

I have taken an order for the Front Opening Greenacres Dollhouse for Vicki!  She has chosen to have this dollhouse completely finished inside and out and electrified.  I will be painting it yellow with white trim for all the trimwork, doors and shutters.  I will be showing pictures of this dollhouse from start to finish so keep checking back as my progress continues....AND don't forget to check out my online store to place a custom dollhouse order of your own!!
Here are the shingles.  I'm staining them a reddish brown.  These shingles are made of pine and don't soak up the stain as much as other types so they will be a nice light shade.  They'll look great with the yellow paint.

Now I'm painting like crazy.  I have run out of white paint so I'm off to the store tomorrow to get some more.  I'll need lots of white!
I've also stained my wood floors and my stair posts and rails.  All my staining is done!  I'm already done with the yellow too.  All the clapboard siding has been painted.  I'm making progress...lots more to come...

Febuary 7, 2013
I've completed the hardest part of building this dollhouse.  At least for me!  Getting the hinges screwed into these mdf boards is tough!  I can tell you I have several blisters from gripping the screwdriver so much.  But the good part is it's done and the doors are on!!!
 Here's the front going on...
Weighing down the housebody to the foundation...
The front opening doors are on and it's starting to take shape!  Lots of painting to go....and of course the roof, the shingling, all the interior...whew!  Ok there's lots more work to do!  Stay tuned for more...

Saturday, February 9, 2013
I have been working on a few things at once, first the shingling.  I have completed the back of the dollhouse and I'm adding the side trim so the entire rear of the dollhouse will be finished and I can just turn it around facing front and go to work on the rest.
The front is taking shape.  I have installed the porch and have added the gingerbread trim to the sides and front.  The front door has gone in and one window.  A few more to paint and then install!

Monday, February 11th
Today I started adding the side trim to cover up the seams where the walls meet.  I also started on the electric wiring!  Here's my junction splice and yes, we have power.  The line is started and will run throughout the house.  I'll be installing six ceiling lights and 5 outlets so additional lamps can be plugged in.
Looking even better with the front trim strips on...more shingling to come but I have to buy some more hot glue sticks....
Partly opened up...lots more to add on the inside.

Today is February 25 and I had taken a few days off from dollhouse construction for the holiday but I'm back hard at work.  Not to worry Vicki, I'm still on schedule! I have installed the tape wire for the electric and have started installing the lighting fixtures and outlets.

I have added the 2nd floor partitions and now that the rooms are divided up I can install the ceiling fixtures for the 2nd floor.  It's getting there, keep watching!

Friday, March 1st
Today I have more pictures of the exterior of the dollhouse, the ceiling lights are all installed and wallpapering has begun!

 Lights on, wallpaper started!
Shingling is done and all the windows are in and shutters attached. It looks beautiful!
The outside is almost done, I just need to add a few more trim pieces above the porch and a few paint touch ups and it's done!!

March 4th
So the dollhouse is nearing completion.  Over the weekend I installed all the wallpaper and now I'm working on adding the baseboards and trim.

I just put in the staircase.  The doors are in as well as the trim around the first floor doorways.  Only the crown moulding and final touchups remain!

Wednesday, March 6th
Finished!

My new website and online store

Hi Everyone
I wanted to explain the exciting things that have been going on at Little Darlings!  As of yesterday I have a new website and online store where you can buy the dollhouses seen here on my blog.  In the past I have used this blog to showcase my dollhouse builds and advertise the custom dollhouse models I have for sale.  My blog will continue to do that as well as share information and tips on dollhouse assembly.  The blog's pictures and information will serve as a great starting point for introducing my custom dollhouse and restoration services.  The great part is now you can go to my STORE option at the top of this page and it will take you to my new website.  From there you can purchase my dollhouses directly by adding it to your cart and paying online.  This is exciting for me as I start to branch out more and service many new customers.  The new store will include both the cost of the dollhouses and shipping for most models.  I've also added handmade miniatures for sale and I'll be expanding that area this year.  So there's lots more to come!  Please visit my new website and as always, feel free to contact me with any questions!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog and I wish you a very Happy New Year!

Building the Newport Dollhouse

Hi everyone
I'm working on building the Newport Dollhouse right now.  I will be finishing it from top to bottom, inside and out and then offering it for sale.  I should be done by the end of October at the very latest and hopefully it will be sold and ready to delight someone for Christmas!  Here's a few pictures of my work so far...it's going great and it's going to be magnificent!!!

I painted the exterior with a gorgeous sea blue color.  I just love it!
The interior is already taking shape with finished wood floors.  The walls have all been primed and will be ready for wallpapering soon.  I started painting and assembling the windows to be installed later. I've also added a special opening from the tower room to the rooftop room.  This adds an additional room to the dollhouse and more room for minis!  More photos of that as it takes shape!  Stay tuned and check back often for more!
I've been hard at work and have finished putting in the windows and dormers.
The inside is taking shape too! I have finished all the wallpaper and soon will be working on painting all the baseboards, doors and window frames.  And shingling the roof!
Fast forward- today is November 4th and I'm still hard at work finishing up this dollhouse.  I had to stop for a bit to finish and electrify a dollhouse for a customer who ran out of steam building the Vermont Farmhouse for her daughter.  So that's why my schedule is a little off.  I was planning on being done by the end of October so I might be a week or 2 off.  But you can see all the progress I've made!  I have shingled the dollhouse, put on all the exterior trim, painted and installed the door and painted, painted, painted!!
Here's some of my parts drying.  There are a lot of railings to assemble and paint before I can install them.  Good thing is, once I'm done doing that I can put them on and the entire outside of the dollhouse will be finished!

I have to get this dollhouse all done so I can start work on a restoration project.  That's the dollhouse to the left here.  I have to replace the lights that aren't working and redo the entire inside.  Plus repaint all of the exterior. So basically redo everything!  The Newport is close to being finished.  Yeah!
And I have made a little progress on the inside.  I installed the staircase.  It looks so great.  More good stuff to add to the inside coming...check back in for more soon!
Today is Election day and aside from voting, I have been working away on this dollhouse trying to get it finished up.  Today I installed the doors and doorway trim, added baseboards to the 1st and 2nd floors and started with the crown moulding.
Here's the front door and staircase with crown moulding and baseboards. I decided to stain the trim for this dollhouse.  I matches the floors perfectly.
I also stained the doors- love them!
The exterior is done just some white paint touch-ups.  I looks awesome!
I'm almost done.  I will post all the finished pictures hopefully tomorrow!
It's totally finished and available NOW!  Here's a few pictures of the finished project:

The Newport Dollhouse by Little Darlings
Welcome in to this beautiful dollhouse.  The black door looks so great and really stands out against the sea blue paint and all that crisp white trim.
The interior is full of details.  Stained wood floors throughout with matching baseboards, doors and staircase in the same stain.
Each room has been wallpapered in pretty colors with baseboard and crown moulding, interior window trim and doorways.  No detail has been left out!
This is the front door and entry into the large family room.
This is the 2nd floor bedroom, nice and spacious, ready to be decorated!
Another 2nd floor room with 2 working doors and alcove.
View of the 1st and 2nd floors.
This is the 3rd floor with a very special bonus feature.  I have added an attic room with a built in ladder to get up there!  Those dolls need a way up there!

Here is the front view of the bonus room.  I left off the back and kept it open.
Here's the view from the back.  My extra room!
Note the ladder
The tower room again with ladder and attic room on top.

This has been such a fun dollhouse to put together.  I love love love how it turned out.  Please let me know what you think and leave a comment!
